Sheltered within flint walls, this west-facing Essex courtyard was remade into a modern Japanese garden. The clients who returned from the Far East hankered a Japan-inspired garden in a secluded section of their 5-hectare estate. Excavating the site to form a dynamic terrain for a sunken temple garden, craning rocks & planting specimen plants, we spent 3 months onsite to make this space a family vignette of east asian happiness.
